The "Heritage of Ancestors" ecological and educational trail is located near the village of Mala Koshelivka in Nizhyn Raion, Chernihiv Oblast. It is a 2.4 km circular hiking route that runs through the territory of the Zaitsevi Sosny local botanical reserve within the Nizhynskyi Regional Landscape Park.
The trail was created to introduce visitors to the nature of this part of the Chernihiv region. During the walk, you can see pine forests, meadows, bodies of water, and wetland areas, as well as learn about local plant and animal species, including rare ones listed in the Red Data Book of Ukraine.
Zaitsevi Sosny Reserve and Nizhynskyi Park
Zaitsevi Sosny is a local botanical reserve with an area of 477 hectares. It is part of the Nizhynskyi Regional Landscape Park, established to preserve the natural complexes of Nizhynshchyna.

The park's territory combines forest, meadow, and wetland ecosystems. It has preserved natural landscapes typical of this part of Chernihiv Polissia. The ecological trail provides an opportunity to get closer to these natural riches and learn more about their significance.

Amenities along the ecological trail
Rest areas and educational stops have been provided for visitors along the trail. As of 2016, three gazebos were arranged here, benches were installed, and a restroom was in operation. More than ten information stands dedicated to the local nature were also placed along the route.
A special feature of the trail is a forest section with a moss-covered path. It complements the natural character of the route and creates an opportunity to experience the diversity of the forest environment.
The village of Mala Koshelivka
Mala Koshelivka is a village in Nizhyn Raion, Chernihiv Oblast, near which the ecological trail is located. The settlement lies among the natural landscapes of Nizhynshchyna, not far from the territories included in the Nizhynskyi Regional Landscape Park.
The outskirts of the village became the site for setting up the route, which introduces visitors to protected natural areas and local ecosystems.
Nearby, there is also a separate cycling route with a length of about 29 km. It should not be confused with the "Ancestral Heritage" hiking ecological trail.
