Autumn fishing in Zhytomyr Oblast can delight anglers with a good catch even during the cool season. Yurii Nevmerzhytskyi set off for the Uzh River in the area of Bekhy and Mlyny to catch crucian carp on a float rod. In two and a half hours, he managed to catch around 20 fish, including some quite large crucian carp.

What the crucian carp was biting on in autumn

The angler shared that convenient spots near the water were occupied this time, so he had to choose another area. He picked a spot with a rocky bottom, sufficient depth, and reeds along the shore.

According to Yurii's observations, the water level in the river was high. He assumed this was related to water discharges from the hydroelectric power plant.

"There's very little water. The HPP isn't discharging water, so it turns out to be knee-deep," the angler noted in his video.

For bait, he brought bloodworms, maggots, and a few other options. According to him, the crucian carp bit best on bloodworms. The angler also drew attention to the condition of the bottom: in clear areas, the fish were more active.

What catch he managed to land on the Uzh

At first, the biting was not very active. The first crucian carp were medium-sized, but larger fish began to appear later on. The best bites occurred near the reeds where Yurii cast his float rod.

After groundbaiting, the biting picked up. The angler kept pulling out crucian carp, some of which were quite large for this time of year.

"Some nice crucian carp are biting," Yurii shared during the fishing session.

At the end of the trip, he tallied his catch — about two dozen crucian carp. He planned to keep some of the fish and release the rest back into the water.

According to the angler, for float fishing and autumn angling, this result is quite good. At the same time, the bite depended on the casting spot: near the reeds, it was noticeably better.
