Liuboml is a small town in the north-west of Volyn, 127 km from Lutsk, with a population of about 10 thousand people. It stands near the Polish border and the highway to Warsaw. Despite its modest size, Liuboml is one of the oldest towns in the region and is included in the list of historical populated places of Ukraine.
A Town from the Chronicle
A hillfort on the site of Liuboml emerged about four thousand years ago. The first written mention dates back to 1287 in the Hypatian Chronicle. The Volyn Prince Volodymyr Vasylkovych, a great bookman, loved to visit here: the town had one of the largest libraries of liturgical books, and part of the Galician-Volyn Chronicle was probably written right here. In 1288, the prince died in Liuboml.
In 1340, Volyn with Liuboml passed to Lithuania, and after the Union of Lublin in 1569, to Poland. In 1392, King Władysław Jagiełło stayed in the town.
What to See
St. George's Church, built under Prince Volodymyr Vasylkovych in the 1280s, is the oldest temple of the town.

The Holy Trinity Church was founded in 1412 by Jagiełło — according to legend, in fulfillment of a vow after the victory over the Tatars. The church was rebuilt many times, so it combines Gothic and Baroque styles. On the "Zamchyshche" hillfort there is a castle mountain, embanked in the 14th century on the site of the detinets of the chronicled Liuboml.

The ruins of the synagogue remind us of the centuries-old Jewish community of the town.
