Lozanove is a hydrological reserve with an area of 14.6 hectares near the village of Vaskovychi in Korosten district, within the Bekhivske forestry. It was created in 2008 to preserve a small oval bog in the interfluve of the Zherev and Shesten.
What the Bog is Like
Most of the bog is covered by tussocks of inflated sedge with sphagnum 60–70 cm high, with water 30–50 cm deep standing between them. Here and there, individual birches and willow bushes grow. There are small hollows, with a quaking bog in the center—meaning a carpet of mosses and grasses floating on the water—and in the southwest, the bog is overgrown with reeds.

Rare Plants
Species from the Red Data Book of Ukraine grow in the reserve: bulbous rush and spreading rush, oblong-leaved sundew—a carnivorous plant that catches small insects with sticky hairs—as well as Lappish willow and lesser bladderwort. Bog-rosemary and round-leaved sundew are also found. Among animals, moose, roe deer, and wild boars visit here.
Tip
Do not enter the bog without experience and a guide: the tussocks and quaking bog are dangerous. View it from the edge. Land reclamation, haymaking, gathering medicinal plants, and burning grass are prohibited in the reserve.
