Russian forces struck a substation of one of the enterprises in the city of Korosten, Zhytomyr region.

The attack cut power to a boiler house, leaving part of a residential district without heating amid winter temperatures.

Russia strikes a substation in Korosten: homes left without heating as the city is attacked for a second day

"Rescuers are now working at the scene, trying to put out the fire caused by the explosion. The boiler house has been cut off and one of the city's districts has been left without heating. We will try to switch it back on to restore heating, because it is cold — minus 10 degrees. We are working on it," said Korosten Mayor Volodymyr Moskalenko.

According to preliminary information, a fire broke out after the enemy strike. Units of the State Emergency Service, emergency and utility services worked at the scene. Specialists dealt with the aftermath of the attack and carried out repair work to restore heating to residents' homes as quickly as possible.

This strike was another episode of the massive terror against the infrastructure of the Zhytomyr region, which has now continued for a second day in a row. The day before, the enemy attacked the region's railway infrastructure: the schedule of suburban trains was changed, some services were cancelled or shortened, and alternative transport was arranged on certain sections.

According to the Ukrainian military and official sources, the region is being attacked, in particular, by Shahed-type attack drones launched and controlled from the territory of the Republic of Belarus. In this way, the Russian Federation continues to use neighbouring territories to strike civilian targets in Ukraine.

Local authorities are in constant contact with the emergency and utility services. Residents are urged to follow official updates, not to ignore air-raid alerts and to follow safety rules.

Russian attacks on energy, transport and utility infrastructure are aimed at destabilising the lives of civilians, but Ukraine continues to resist and rebuild what has been destroyed.
