The Zhytomyr region came under another Russian drone attack on 23 July.
The alert began with reports of enemy UAVs moving across the north of the region, and explosions soon followed on the outskirts of Zhytomyr.
An air-raid warning was declared at 17:26. The threat was first detected in the Korosten district, where drones passed through Narodychi heading toward Korosten. At around 17:38, military intelligence separately warned of a high likelihood of ballistic strikes over the next 48 hours.
The danger then spread to the Zhytomyr district, where UAVs were tracked moving toward Ivankiv, and to the Berdychiv district.
At about 17:52, witnesses reported thick black smoke after explosions in Zhytomyr's northern suburbs. Shortly afterward came reports of a jet-powered drone heading toward the regional capital.
Within minutes it emerged that a fuel station had been hit. The strike was followed by secondary explosions, and a column of black smoke rose over the site.
Vitalii Bunechko, head of the Zhytomyr Regional Military Administration, confirmed the enemy strike on fuel infrastructure in Zhytomyr. Rescuers reached the scene quickly and contained the fire. No casualties have been reported so far.
The all-clear was sounded across the region at 18:17.
Residents are urged not to ignore air-raid warnings and to stay in shelters until an official all-clear is announced.
UPD: The fire at the gas station caused by an enemy attack has been completely extinguished.The shelling ignited both the facility itself and the surrounding dry grass. Rescue operations were complicated by the threat of repeated strikes. According to preliminary data, there were no casualties or injuries.
