A fresh Russian attack has damaged farmland in Ukraine's Zhytomyr region.
According to Vitalii Bunechko, head of the Zhytomyr Regional Military Administration, the strike started a fire in a wheat field belonging to one of the region's farms. He said the flames engulfed around two hectares of wheat that farmers had been preparing to harvest, destroying part of a future crop they had worked on for months.
Units of the State Emergency Service (SES) arrived on the scene quickly. Their fast, coordinated response contained the blaze and stopped it from spreading across the rest of the field, helping to avert even greater losses. As of now, Bunechko said, there are no casualties. The fire has been fully extinguished.
Russian attacks continue to take a toll not only on civilian infrastructure but on Ukraine's agriculture as well, wiping out harvests and inflicting heavy losses on farmers even at the height of the reaping season.
