On September 4, the Zhytomyr region came under attack by Russian forces once again. The enemy targeted the region, and residents were urged to remain in safe locations during the air raid alert.
The consequences of the attack were reported by Vitalii Bunеchko, Head of the Zhytomyr Regional Military Administration.
According to him, Russian forces continue to strike enterprises in the Zhytomyr region that have already been damaged in previous attacks.
Fortunately, according to preliminary information, there were no deaths or injuries.
Emergency services are working at the sites
Following the attack, relevant emergency services and investigative teams are working at the affected locations. Specialists are dealing with the consequences of the strike and documenting the damage caused.
Vitalii Bunеchko urged residents of the region not to ignore air raid alerts and to move to shelters or other safe locations when danger arises.
Korosten–Zhytomyr train delayed due to the attack
The consequences of the attack also affected railway services.
Train No. 6463 Korosten–Zhytomyr was delayed by 33 minutes. According to Ukrzaliznytsia, the train departed from Ushomyr station with a delay, after which it continued along its scheduled route.
Railway officials also warned that the train may be stopped if the level of danger increases.
Air raid threat timeline
According to operational monitoring data, on September 4, the Zhytomyr region faced the threat of drone attacks twice — at night and in the evening. Air raid alerts were issued in different districts of the region.
The first wave of danger occurred during the night leading into September 4. During Russia's large-scale attack on Ukraine, the Ukrainian Air Force reported the launch of more than 100 attack drones. The Zhytomyr region was also under the threat of UAV strikes.
In the evening, at 6:54 p.m., an air raid alert was declared in Zhytomyr and Berdychiv districts due to a drone threat. Monitoring reports recorded the movement of aerial targets toward various locations in the region, including Zhytomyr.
At the same time, information about the specific consequences of the evening threat may still be updated.
Zhytomyr region repeatedly comes under attack
The latest strike was another in a series of attacks on the region. Russian forces had already launched strikes against Zhytomyr region earlier in September.
In particular, during the night of September 1, the Zviahel and Korosten communities came under attack. The strike caused fires at an industrial facility and a warehouse. Firefighters extinguished one of the fires, while emergency crews continued working at the other site.
Residents of the region are once again urged not to ignore air raid alerts and to remain in shelters whenever a threat is announced.
The situation following the attack remains under the control of the relevant authorities and emergency services.
