During the night of September 11, 2026, Russian forces launched a drone strike on Ovruch. According to Ovruch Mayor Ivan Korud, the attack occurred at around 3:40 a.m. A critical infrastructure facility was targeted.

“As a result of the enemy attack, the enterprise suffered significant damage. Civilian residents were also affected — their homes were damaged,” Ivan Korud said.

Relevant emergency and municipal services are currently working at the site. They are dealing with the aftermath of the strike and assisting residents whose homes were damaged.

Ovruch Community Has Repeatedly Come Under Russian Attacks

This is not the first Russian strike on the Ovruch community. According to Ivan Korud, the community has already suffered more than 100 enemy attacks since the beginning of the full-scale war.

The Ovruch area is one of the communities in the Zhytomyr region that has been particularly affected by Russian aggression due to its proximity to the border with Belarus. Back in August, the mayor reported that the community had suffered more than 70 airstrikes since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, while damaged infrastructure was being restored with the support of international partners.

In recent weeks alone, the Ovruch community has repeatedly been targeted by Russian drones. On September 3, a private house was damaged in a UAV attack. The roof and windows were damaged, and a fire broke out following the strike before being contained by rescuers. No casualties were reported at the time.

And at the beginning of September, another Russian strike drone damaged the property of a local family in the Ovruch community. Rescuers, medical workers, municipal services, city council representatives and local residents were involved in dealing with the consequences.

Mayor Urges Residents Not to Ignore Air Raid Alerts

Following the latest attack, Ivan Korud urged residents of the community not to ignore air raid alerts and to seek shelter whenever there is a threat.

If it is not possible to reach a shelter, the mayor recommends following the “two-wall rule” and staying away from windows.

The exact extent of the damage in Ovruch is still being assessed.
