Ukrainian Railways (Ukrzaliznytsia) has warned passengers of a series of changes to suburban train services in the near future. The announcement was made on the company's official suburban-services Telegram channel.

The Malyn and Korosten direction

The biggest changes are in the Zhytomyr region, on the Kyiv — Malyn — Korosten line. Here Ukrainian Railways is, in its own wording, "adapting the intensity of services" — and it is precisely these changes that triggered a wave of appeals from residents of the local communities, since in effect they mean the cancellation of four suburban trains.

Suburban trains being cancelled:

  • No. 6606 Korosten — Kyiv — from 30 July;
  • No. 6607 Kyiv — Korosten — from 30 July;
  • No. 6615 Kyiv — Korosten — from 29 July;
  • No. 6618 Korosten — Kyiv — from 30 July.

Services being shortened (cut back to Malyn):

  • No. 6605 — formerly Kyiv — Teteriv, from 30 July becomes Kyiv — Malyn;
  • No. 6616 — formerly Teteriv — Sviatoshyn, from 30 July becomes Malyn — Sviatoshyn.

New daily services from 30 July (as announced by Ukrainian Railways):

  • No. 6605 Kyiv-Pasazhyrskyi — Malyn: 08:50–11:11;
  • No. 6616 Malyn — Sviatoshyn: 11:53–13:42.

As a result, the direct Korosten — Kyiv — Korosten suburban service in its usual form is being discontinued, and in its place a service as far as Malyn remains. Ukrainian Railways had earlier explained, in an official reply to public appeals, that the cancelled suburban trains would be replaced by regional Korosten — Kyiv — Korosten services, which will run daily except Saturdays and Sundays and will be faster, but with fewer stops. This is exactly what worries residents of the intermediate stations: the train follows the same route, but no longer stops at the small platforms.

Particularly painful for the Malyn community was the cancellation of train No. 6606 Korosten — Kyiv — the very morning service that residents had fought to bring back as recently as the winter of 2026.
